In late 1989, Majorie Burgan sent out a call for any interested parties to come to a meeting. I came and learned about Habitat for Humanity and her desire to form an affiliate to build affordable homes in Missoula. I began a long relationship with Habitat, starting with working on the incorporation documents with a volunteer lawyer. We were incorporated with the state of Montana in 1990 as a 501(c)3. I moved into Family Selection from there, and spent time in Publicity and Fundraising, writing grants and reaching out to our faith community for support. I stepped off the Board when my term was completed and stayed a donor and supporter for many decades. In 2025, I found myself called to return to the Board. Serving has been such a rewarding experience! In my spare time, I garden, feed the birds, delight in grandchildren, and work construction on the Habitat homes. Turns out even little old ladies can handle tools…Don’t be afraid to join us in any capacity. We have a place for you if you want to help.
